GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

The minimum graduation requirements for the state of Washington, as well as those required to meet Napavine High School graduation requirements, are listed below.

ENGLISH - 4 credits [English 9, 10, 11, and English 12 required].

MATH - 3 credits [Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II or Financial Algebra]

SCIENCE - 3 credits, two of which must be a lab science. [Earth/Space, Biology or Env. Biology, Computer Science, Chemistry/Physics]

SOCIAL STUDIES - 3 credits [World History, US History, Government/Civics]

ARTS - 2 credits

FITNESS/HEALTH - 2 credits in high school [PE/Health 9 required]

CAREER / TECHNICAL EDUCATION - 1 credit

ELECTIVES – 4 credits

WORLD LANGUAGE or PERSONAL PATHWAY REQUIREMENT – 2 credits Spanish and/or PPR.

❖ “Personalized pathway requirements" means up to three course credits chosen by a student under the categories of Fine Art and/or CTE that are included in a student's personalized pathway and prepare the student to meet specific post-secondary career or educational goals

Non-Credit requirements for graduation:

❖ Washington State History - taken in Middle School

❖ Students passing Napavine High School’s Advisory course (High School and Beyond Plan) may earn up to .25 credits per year. This credit will be considered as an elective credit

❖ Smarter Balance Math exam (10TH grade; or state approved alternative)

❖ Smarter Balance English/Language Arts exam (10TH grade; or state approved alternative)

❖ WA Comprehensive Assessment of Science (11TH grade; or state approved alternative)

❖ Students planning to attend a four-year college or university after high school graduation may have additional credit requirements and should consult with the counselor to ensure they meet entrance requirements

Napavine School District
